The Problem With Expressive Individualism | FEAT. Baewolf

Expressive individualism holds that each person has a unique core of feeling and intuition that should unfold or be expressed if individuality is to be realized.
— Robert Bellah

Western social culture has frequently praised the altar to the "self" throughout modern history. Our Founding Fathers paved the way for the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Over the last few decades though, it seems that our understanding, and projection of "self" has been distorted by our culture in a way that is unrepresentative en masse and unsustainable for the future. At what point did our God-given rights pave the way for alarming rates of narcissism? One point could be the problem with expressive individualism.

Join The Wolf, Bull, and Baewolf in episode forty-one as they explore the ideology of expressive individualism, its meaning, history, and its current effect on our present social sphere.
