The β€œArt” of Manipulation And Alternative Motives | FEAT. Baewolf

β€œβ€œIf you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.”
— Sun Tsu in The Art of War

The English word "manipulation" originates from the Latin term "manipulus", meaning "handful". As time progressed, our understanding of manipulation morphed to mean "handling something skillfully". With the present understanding of manipulation, "to influence covertly", our current definition carries plenty of negative connotations. Wielded by seemingly any party with something to gain, is it possible to know when one is being manipulated, or are we uniquely susceptible to the wills of those with alternative motives? Mass manipulation seems common these days, and the only way to combat its negative effects is through understanding.

Join the Wolf, the Bull, and Beawolf in episode 33 as they discuss manipulation, its origins, its many forms, and whether there is anything that can be done to fend off its effects.
